Osteopathy for children
Children can benefit from osteopathy as well.
Treating children requires a different approach than treating adults. It’s important to take the time to make the child feel at ease before treatment can take place.
Osteopathic treatment is gentle, safe and effective for both babies and children. Very specific, skilled, light pressure is applied where necessary to assist the natural ability of the body to release its stresses and tensions.
Osteopathic treatment is, by definition, manual. In children the methods used are nearly always very gentle, but they are nonetheless powerful, requiring special knowledge and skill.
To further deepen his knowledge, expertise and skill in his work with babies and children, Sander Sprong has had a two year course in paediatric osteopathy at the Panta Rhei institute.
Osteopathy may benefit children with:
- Sleeping disorders
- Ear, nose and throat problems
- Problems with motor development
- Behavioural and/or learning difficulties
- Nocturnal enuresis (‘bed-wetting’)
- Indigestion, abdominal discomfort
- Problems of the jaws
It’s impossible to list here all the conditions that osteopathy can help treat. If you don’t see your child’s problem or condition listed above, please contact Sander to discuss the possibility of treatment.
